The view is from about 12 m above Rock Balance Point, looking past the Inukshuk to Stanley Park and the North Shore, with the shoreline traced from satellite imagery. Point Grey, Vancouver Island, Bowen Island, the North Shore and Stanley Park follow a hand-measured horizon profile, so times when the sun dips behind them can be off by a minute or two. Clouds, rain, fog and haze come from the Open-Meteo forecast for the beach and for a point about 60 km west over the Strait of Georgia. That western point decides whether low cloud blocks the light. The score rewards some high and mid cloud, a clear western horizon, dry air and good visibility. The data refreshes every 15 minutes.
